About The Auction

The mission of the Mentor Auction is twofold, to save lives and change the world by tapping into the incredible talent and generosity of the wedding industry and to create better and more successful photographers. To accomplish this goal we’ve asked some of the best and brightest in the wedding and portrait world to donate 90 minutes of their time and anything else they feel like giving to be auctioned off to the highest bidder!

100% of the proceeds directly benefit Thirst Relief International, saving lives and changing the world! Add to that the incredible wisdom and talent that is being shared in the one-on-one mentors sessions and you have better and more successful photographers! So, not only are lives being saved but the lives of many photographers are being made better! It’s truly a win win for everyone involved!

Woodshop was a hit

Tuesday, February 02, 2010 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

Angie and I wanted to say thank you to everyone that came out to our First SEO Woodshop. We had wedding planners, dj’s, flower shops, corporate planners, cinematagraphers and designers.  We will be announcing with official dates the Woodshops for photographers at WPPI in Las Vegas along with the website we have been working on.  Its been a lot of work  since we first announced the Woodshop in September.  I can’t wait to share.

Special thanks to Erin Browning at the Oxford for the tour and the beautiful facility to give this class.

Kelley from KelleyKakes for the wonderful whoopie pies and cupcakes.

Angie and I were super happy to hear feedback and learn that people got something out of the class they can put to use in their wedding businesses.

How to create a custom Twitter background

Tuesday, February 02, 2010 Posted in misc

I just updated our Twitter page.  For all of you that are not following yet here it is http://twitter.com/andyangiewood .  If you did not know you can customize your twitter landing page.

Why would you want to do this?

1.  Express yourself

2.  Artistic creativity

3.  Branding- its very important to keep everything you use in your business branded and with the same message.  We will be talking about this in Las Vegas at our Platform Class more.

Here is what we came up with

How to customize your Twitter Background

1.  Log into Twitter at www.twitter.com

2. Go to settings > Design

3.  At the bottom of the page  you will see both change background image and change design colors.  You can change out to a pre-configured look or design your own.

Designing your own background

1.  Your canvas for this project is going to be 1600×1200.  Most people use the far left because as the screen size gets larger the text part of twitter moves away from the background.

2.  After you have created your own background go to settings > Design

3.  Design > change background image

4.  Click choose file and upload your new made background.  Click Save Changes to upload it

5.  After your custom background is up click design > change design colors

6.  Pick the colors for the background, text, links, sidebar, sidebar border.  Try to match your branding and custom background.  You will be able to use a color picker or hex code to change them.

Our first piece of Artwork

Monday, February 01, 2010 Posted in Vendor Review

Angie and I were in Nashville a few weeks ago at a photography convention. While we were there we ran into an amazing artist. So much so that we ended up buying this painting. To be honest its the first painting we have in our house. Most of the house has photography which we regularly purchase. One of our friends even came home with one of the pieces of artwork. The piece of artwork is of Johnny Cash, which is one of my favorite artists. He was an incredible singer songwriter, author, and biblical scholar.

If you would like to see more of Sara Strese’s work you can see more at her site. She told us she does custom requests as well.

This picture does not do this painting any justice, but it is the only way to show it off. It is a 36×48 and the detail and colors are amazing. Thank you Sara for such a nice piece of artwork for our house.  I hope everyone enjoys it.
