Dog at Colorado Wedding

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

If you have read this blog for any amount of time you know how much Angie and I love animals.  We especially love dogs.  We love seeing people incorporate things that they love in their wedding.  At a wedding recently at Arrowhead Golf course the couple dressed up their dog and everyone had a lot of fun watching their family pet be part of their amazing day.  I wanted to show it I hope it brings a smile to your face.

For the photographers shot with Fuji pro400h film

  • Susan Lapene Love the colors. Great idea with having the family dog be part of the wedding 07.28.11, 01:22AM

A change of pace a few more senior portraits.  Love the old train, the leading lines, and the dramatic light.  Pretty cool senior picture.

Senior Portraits

Saturday, July 23, 2011 Posted in portraits

Dramatic images are a lot of fun. It is part of the reason we have chosen to be photographers. Not every photographer can create and image like this. Not every photographer wants to create images like this. For me it’s part of the creativity that keeps me excited about image making. The light in this image would never be like this, the photographer has to create it to make this look. A photograph is a blank canvas, add an interesting background, with some leading lines and dramatic sky. Add a pose that is flattering to the subject and tells something about them, then light the image to make it all come together.

Mistakes Good or Bad

Thursday, July 21, 2011 Posted in Photographer

I often ask myself how bad is making a mistake.  I guess it also depends on how bad the mistake is and how you learn from it.  On the drive back from a wedding in Montanna we drove through Yellowstone.  I had never been and it was absolutely beautiful.  I had fun documenting the Trip with a Rolleicord.  The Rollei was made from 1934 to 1976 in Germany.  Twards the end of the trip it was not advancing the film very well so I was forced to either expose the shot I had already taken or pop the back and lose a few shots.  I chose to do a few double and triple exposures in hopes of saving the shots I had already taken.

This was the gem.  I could have been upset at my misfortune or  learn from it, adapt and come up with a new plan.

This is to life and the mistakes we make. May some of them be beautiful

Taken with Rolleicord and Kodak 160 portra. Double exposure of field mixed with shot taken of lake.
