Polaroid 669 Portrait

Friday, May 25, 2012 Posted in portraits

MHP (mile high photographers) got together to do a fun shoot and workshop all centered around FILM.  Thanks to James Christianson for sharing with all of us.  I decided to photograph using some old 669 polaroid film I had around the house.  I really like the colors and handcrafted look.  Maybe this expired polaroid stock does get better with time.

Grand Junction Monument Engagement Photography

Thursday, May 24, 2012 Posted in engagement photographers

Andy & I do weddings all over Colorado and sometimes in places you wouldn’t expect like Montrose, CO.  Corey and Kristen were such clients and because they hired us we were able to see a part of Colorado neither of us had honestly never seen before!  Montrose is about 5 hours from us near Grandjunction and Ouray.  In their package they bought an engagement session which together we decided we would do when they made a trip up to Denver but as their wedding got closer that trip didn’t happen.  But as luck would have it, we ended up booking a wedding in Grandjunction a few weeks before theirs and they met up with us there!  If you have never been to that part of Colorado it is on the other side of the Rocky Mountains and is much more desert -ty.  Grandjunction has a national park, The Colorado National Monument with amazing views, tons of unique rock (for all those climbers) and lots of hiking trails.  The day we met for their engagement session at the top of this park, it was 100 degrees and their were more bugs than any of us have ever seen!  However we were there and we were going to have fun!  And so we did…..

Two Big Occasions | 8 Years in Business and 8 Years Married

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

Two weeks before our wedding I photographed our first wedding in Philadelphia.  I won’t go into all the details that led us there but lets just say it wasn’t a coincidence that I ended up photographing that first wedding.  I don’t know if the statistic is true but we have all heard 95 percent of businesses fail in the first five years.  I would say that 8 years is an accomplishement to really be proud of.  Angie and I want to thank all of our customers and family that have supported us over the years.  We truly are humbled that we get to do something we love so much and that you invite us to take photographs at your most important events and loved ones.

May 22nd 8 years ago we were married, which some of you are saying wow it was eight years ago?  I think the number is kind of misleading since we started dating senior year of high school.  So I like to actually think of the sixteen years that we have been together as well.

A little note for Angie.  Thank you for all the laughs, for being there through the great times and the bad times.  Thank you for being  a constant source of smiles and love.  You are a beautiful women inside and out, and a beautiful example  to all of us.

Of course a post without pictures isn’t really a post at all. A few pictures from a session with Angie.  It was a bit windy and cold but I think they turned out beautiful.  What do you think?   It really is a lot of fun to be able to take images of those you love.

Summer Portraits

Friday, May 18, 2012 Posted in portraits

At the end of the MHP toy camera workshop we taught , I decided to shoot an extra roll since the light was so beautiful. Melanie was our model for the night.  For half of the workshop each group shot either still life or portraits with the Holgas or Dianas.  I cheated at the end and brought out the contax.  I really loved how smiley and happy she was it made for some fun and lighthearted portraits.
