Passion for photography

Monday, January 17, 2011 Posted in portraits

Angie ran across this last week and had to show me.  I am really glad that she did.  This video really shows the passion and the way someone sees the world can come across in their photography.  I thought the photography was incredibly beautiful and this women had an interesting way of seeing the world.  She really had an eye for composition, which I think came naturally to her.  I really enjoyed many of her portraits.  Even though many would not be a portrait that the subject would want themselves.  I have always Composition is an interesting subject, and I have some views on whether it can actually be taught since we have taught classes before at the community college.  It comes innately to many, and some can’t master it even after years of education and practice.  I hope that you enjoy this  video of Vivian Mair’s work,  I know I did.

Portrait of my Mother

Thursday, January 06, 2011 Posted in portraits

I got the opportunity to take a few pictures of my mother on Christmas day.  I thought I would share one of them with you.  My mom works at Swedish and  has always been a loving mother.  She is the mom that is always worried about how everyone else is and can she get them something.  She spent a lot of time making a brunch for everyone with the most elaborate waffle bar I think the world has ever seen.  Needless to say this made Angie super happy.

If you are a photographer and are shooting film, you should know that Kodak is now selling a new Portra film.  The old versions of NC and VC have been discontinued.  I shot a few rolls and will share them they come back.

It was a beautiful day for some Colorado Portraits with jamie

Wednesday, December 01, 2010 Posted in portraits

I met Jamie years ago when I started volunteering for an amazing non-profit, Camp To Belong. Her mom was one of the founders and for a few years we had a great time helping the community and children. Although they don’t do camp here in Colorado any more I will always have a special place in my heart for this organization.
Apparently Jamie never had any high school senior photos taken and so we grabbed the opportunity and played for an afternoon! She brought many outfits and was such a good sport as we had her hiking up steep hills, crouching with bugs and walking on logs. Jamie is amazing and I can’t wait to see the amazing things she will do when she graduates from CSU!

  • Denver Photographer Those portraits look great. Did you use an off camera flash for these or was it all just natural light. Great work! 12.05.10, 02:05PM
