Labor Day Weekend Weddings

Sunday, September 05, 2010 Posted in wedding photography

Labor day weekend in Colorado is just beautiful and this weekend we have 2 weddings!  We just finished the first one today back in our college town of Fort Collins.

We like to arrive early and so we did today which gave us the opportunity to drive around and remember  so many great memories from CSU. We even  listened to the CU vs CSU game on the way up, although that was not the highlight of the day :)   We talked about our old apartments, our favorite restaurants and of course as we drove by the dorms, how much we despised the dorm.

We had a great time with Ryan & Hanni today!  I thought these images might be  a cool sneak peak for everyone.  For those wondering these are not digital images, but another passion of ours in the photography world…

Oldies but goodies

Friday, September 03, 2010 Posted in wedding photography

These images were taken more than three years ago.  I can’t believe how time flies past you.  I was moving some files around and ran across these long enough to keep my attention.  It’s always a learning experience and sometimes very humbling to see where you came from.  I thought I would share a few of them since if you are here its a good bet you love wedding imagery.

Hudson Gardens Littleton Wedding Photography

Monday, August 30, 2010 Posted in wedding photography

This wedding was so pretty and Leanne picked details that were very elegant!  Both the bridesmaids and the groomsmen wore all black with a touch of color in the guys boutonnières of green orchids.  Each of the bridesmaids carried soft bouquets of white roses, green orchids and were tied with a simple green ribbon.  As a small accent piece, the groomsmen had a small green handkerchief in their front pocket.

The reception was outside under a white tent at the gardens.  Each table was adorned with a black tablecloth, green accent pieces and a lit candle as the centerpiece.  Leanne also had small white and black planters at each place setting for the guests to take with them.

Their cake was white with a modern feel and was topped with a big silver “M” on the top for their new last name.

Everything about this wedding was so pretty!  Here are a few more of our favorite photos from the day!

Alternative Processes

Sunday, August 29, 2010 Posted in wedding photography

I have been working with a lot of alternative processes this summer. Staying fresh and finding some new products for our customers. To add to the wetplate collodion work we are doing we have also been working with encaustics, negatives from pack film and shooting a lot of 220 medium format color film. I know our brides are like what, and so might a lot of the digital photographers around the country. Basically this means we are going to have some new products to start showing off soon as I stop playing around.

As a side note I wanted to say that tonight has been super sad to be working with analog materials that are being discontinued. Tonight I found out that Fuji Pro 400h 220 has been discontinued. Also FP100b45 which is a great pack film.

The only good news. I saw that the impossible project is expecting to bring back 8×10 instant film early next year.

Of course here are a few pictures from pack film negatives. These don’t have any work on them except a slight tone. The texture is from preparing the negative. It almost gives a look similar to wet plate.  They definitely don’t look like digital
