We don’t post engagement sessions very often but more than half of our wedding couples do them! We have been all over the state photographing engagements from the streets of downtown Denver to the top of Vail in a blizzard. We both LOVE to do engagement sessions because we get to know our couple, we get to be creative and we get to have fun without the pressure of a wedding timeline.
Most people do them to become comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day but I also think it gives the couple some memorable photos of this time in their life with all of the hustle of planning a wedding. It also gives them some photos in normal clothes that become timeless on their walls.
We did Derek & Jenn’s engagement session in downtown Denver during a colder time of year which let Jen bring several cute coats! Their wedding was a several months after at the Lakewood Country Club with some amazing vendors including Kelly Kakes who did their wedding cake and Rachel from Talia Events!
There is a spot at the top of Vail Mountain with the most beautiful view going on for miles all around. They have set up a nice area with concrete stadium seating giving the guests a breathtaking view.
Mike & Tracy planned their wedding here in Colorado on the top of Vail mountain and it was truly beautiful. Tracy’s bridesmaids wore tea length black dresses with a small pink ribbon around the waist and carried beautiful bouquets with pink and white flowers. To match the groomsmen wore black slacks, black long sleeve shirts with fancy pink ties. It was such a beautiful day and we were so lucky to have so much time to take pictures; if you have never been to the top of Vail mountain you should certainly go and you will see why we love it so much!

This post will have great information for those looking for a Vail Wedding Photographer or Vail Wedding Photography
We get a lot of emails from aspiring photographers from around the country. One of the most asked question’s is how to get better. So I thought I would answer it today.
I think there are a lot of ways to get better at the craft of photography I am going to list the one that I think will accelerate your learning curve.
1. Practice – I played sports up until college. Baseball, basketball and cross country. Baseball was my passion. I liked playing basketball and cross country but I mostly played them to get into shape for baseball. It was driven into me at a young age that if you wanted to be good at something you needed to practice. The best place to start is just shooting that next picture.
I thought this picture from a Vail wedding would help to illustrate practicing and pre visualizing.

Just a little sneak peak for a wedding we took pictures at the top of Vail Mountain. If you are considering a wedding in the mountains you can not get much more beautiful then this location. Beautiful scenic colorado views. I can’t wait to share the rest.
