What do you do when you have a few shots left on a roll

Tuesday, January 25, 2011 Posted in Photographer

Well the answer is simple find someone to take a portrait of.  Since it’s a lot more difficult to turn the camera on yourself, Angie usually has to have her picture taken a lot.  I shot this after a family session so she still had her camera on.  For the photographers out there you can see her sporting her rapid strap which we both love.  If you don’t have one of these wonderful straps go buy one right now.  Its a lifesaver for your neck and back.

I really loved the light at this spot, and think it was nice of Angie to sit still so I could get a few shots.

Holding your grandson film

Monday, January 24, 2011 Posted in family portraits

I just got 4 more sessions of film in and wanted to share this image really quickly. We shoot a lot of different kinds of assignments. Two of the sessions are birth images from the hospital the day after, a family session, and a birthday. One of the things we love about our job is capturing the emotions and moments that happen all around us. For most of the year we do this at weddings, but other times it is new baby’s birth or a family playing in a park together. We captured this image while new baby, Rylan was quietly asleep in his grandmother’s arms. She was so full of emotion we couldn’t help ourselves! She is proud, happy, and thankful and you can’t but see it.

  • Chris Giles You see, there, right there is why natural light will always be king in my book. Great stuff! 01.25.11, 10:33AM

Elopement Courthouse Weddings

Thursday, January 20, 2011 Posted in wedding photographers

Weddings come in so many sizes and colors.  One of the great parts of the job is it never gets old because the weddings and people we shoot are always changing.  We have shot weddings with over a hundred thousand dollars of decor to weddings with no decor.  We got the opportunity to shoot a courthouse wedding with just the bride and groom and their son.  It was a very intimate affair.  We shot this wedding as if it were a documentary.  While waiting the bride was in the hallway with her son and I took this picture.  The strange and beautiful light and the emotion on her face while looking at her son reminded me of a few photo’s that I treasure as an adult.  The pictures of being young with your young parents, you were there but you don’t really remember the day.  Somehow it takes you back.
