Emotion First Dance

Monday, January 10, 2011 Posted in Photographer

Weddings bring up a lot of emotion.  As our society gets busier and busier, we many times don’t have the time to reflect or to feel.  Weddings are such a ball of emotions.  The father and mother of the bride and groom, have emotions of love and memories of when their children were young.  They are now grown up and starting on their adventure.  Friends and family are happy for the bride and groom who have found someone special to live life with.  Weddings are a day filled with much emotion and thats why this day means so much for Angie and I to capture.  Its a milestone and special day.

This image was taken at a wedding in Estes this year at the Stanley Hotel.  I get choked up looking at the emotion of her father during the first dance.  I hope you enjoy the image and can think back to your first dance or look forward to it.

Making a dramatic image

Friday, January 07, 2011 Posted in wedding photographers

Being a multifaceted photographer is something that we strive for. We are able to create a beautiful images, sometimes classic, sometimes modern, but always different than the norm. If you look through our Colorado Wedding Pictures I think you will see that we are well versed in shooting in a variety of lighting conditions. I think many photographers in the market not just in Colorado have done themselves and their clients a disservice by only being able to shoot one kind of style or light. If we were limited in our skill to create images we might have never created this image. It began to rain very heavily, so we needed to get out of the rain. We decided this cave could create some interesting images. While the cave could be a great place for some images if you can light it, it would also be a hard place to shoot with out additional artificial lighting. This image has 2 additional lights.  If we didn’t understand lighting and were not able to do it quickly set it up we would miss images like this.

  • Jamey You guys find the most beautiful backgrounds to compliment your pictures for the clients. I can see why understanding light is important. 01.08.11, 09:02AM

Portrait of my Mother

Thursday, January 06, 2011 Posted in portraits

I got the opportunity to take a few pictures of my mother on Christmas day.  I thought I would share one of them with you.  My mom works at Swedish and  has always been a loving mother.  She is the mom that is always worried about how everyone else is and can she get them something.  She spent a lot of time making a brunch for everyone with the most elaborate waffle bar I think the world has ever seen.  Needless to say this made Angie super happy.

If you are a photographer and are shooting film, you should know that Kodak is now selling a new Portra film.  The old versions of NC and VC have been discontinued.  I shot a few rolls and will share them they come back.
