For the love of it, our wish for you

Tuesday, June 29, 2010 Posted in misc

A few weeks ago a friend called and asked us to go watch the World Cup Soccer game that was on.  He was excited because he played soccer back in high school and wanted to support the USA team.  We met him at a neighborhood restaurant/bar and when we walked in it was abnormally quiet.  When we found our friend and sat down everyone around us had their eyes peeled to the 20 televisions lined up on wall with the game on.  Soon after we had sat down and ordered something happened in the game and the once very quiet room became loud as everyone was shouting, cheering and throwing their hands up in the air.

There was so much passion in the room for this sport and the team all of these people were loyal to.  It got me thinking about the things different people love and their passion.  For these guys it was obviously soccer and they were there to support their team until the end.  Of course we did not share quite the same excitement as they did; we haven’t ever really watched soccer and certainly didn’t know the rules.  But just watching them slamming their glasses down, yelling, jumping up was fun and it is exactly how we feel, not about soccer, but photography!

I wanted to write this post to kind of talk about a philosophy Andy and I have had since we started this business.  If we ever felt like our passion for creating imagery was gone we would move onto something else.  We have worked hard keep that feeling, we had when we had that first amazing image, that first award.  For those that are not photographers, its basically the same feeling you got on Christmas morning with all the anticipation for what would be waiting under the tree.  For sports players its the thrill and rush of hitting a home run, finishing a race.  If that feeling is no longer there its time to do something else.  Why?

There are masses of people that want your job, and brides deserve the best photographers in the nation to capture their special day.  The minute you are not feeling the thrill of chasing that next beautiful image, you are about to endure a slow death. People in all walks of life who have stopped “living”.  We all know someone that fits this “walking dead”.  Its not a life we want.  I am writing this post both to let brides know that we are still chasing that next beautiful image and to help photographers who might be feeling burn’t out to think about “for the love it”.  Take that feeling you had when you first picked up a camera and use it at the next wedding, I know we will.

I put the lyrics below to show that this happens in other creative industries as well.  I hope you find “the love of it”, help someone rediscover “the love of it”, or teach someone “the love of it”.

BOB Airplanes Lyrics

Somebody take me back to the days
Before this was a job
Before I got paid
Before it ever mattered what I had in my bank
Yeah back when i was trying to get a tip at Subway
Back when I was rapping for the hell of it
But now days we rapping to stay relevant
I’m guessing that if we can make some wishes out of airplanes
Then maybe oh maybe I’ll go back to the days
Before the politics that we call the rap game
And back when ain’t nobody listened to my mixtape
And back before I tried to cover up my slang
But this is for decater
What’s up Bobby Ray
So can I get a wish to end the politics
And get back to the music that started this

Think about it……is there something you get so excited about your heart races, you will slam your glass on the table and jump up and down?

Exciting changes for Denver Wedding Photographers

Friday, March 19, 2010 Posted in misc

We are always trying to make things more efficient with our business. Adding new products, collateral, websites, blogs to help maintain and strengthen or brand. We have been hard at work and over the next month or so we will be unveiling some of the new additions. Coming very soon.. A new website and much.. much… more.

I wanted to share these new business cards. We can never make our mind up when it comes to picking a picture so we decided to get 10 new ones. Along with 10 different pictures they each have a different color scheme. Kind of fun… enjoy, Maybe they will become collectable.
