Winter is almost here

Monday, November 15, 2010 Posted in portraits

Angie and I were out for a walk this weekend.  You can only sit in front of the computer, editing for so long before you go cross eyed.   Of course we took the camera.  The light was really beautiful and angie was nice enough to let me take a few shots of her.  I couldn’t get our dog to sit nicely in front of this light. Not sure why our dog doesn’t think photography is a priority.  I guess we are going to need to work on that.

Fire Themed Model Shoot

Tuesday, November 09, 2010 Posted in portraits

I was moving some files around today and ran across these two files from a fire themed shoot we did with a model for her portfolio. I thought you might enjoy taking a look at them. The shoot got me thinking about practice. I played sports in high school and it was instilled in me early that if you ever wanted to be good at something you were going to need to practice it. Jerry Rice often referred to as the best wide receiver to ever play the game got there by practice. What many people don’t know is that Jerry Rice practiced harder and more than just about anyone in the league. Rice in the off season would conduct his own practice regiment 6 days a week. While others were enjoying the down time Rice was pushing himself. During the season some players would work out with him to see if they could keep up. Many got sick before the day was done. Many players and coaches would write and ask the trainers for his regiment. They declined in fear that people would hurt themselves if they tried his workout.

If you want to be better at whatever you do, practice. It doesn’t have to be the actual activity, but even supporting practice will help.

For instance, Jerry didn’t always play football he may have been strength training or running. Both of these activities helped with football. For a photographer, maybe its taking an art class, reading a book on composition. All of these things will help you to become a better photographer.

Another Senior Portrait

Thursday, October 28, 2010 Posted in portraits

Here is another shot from the same series as the last one.  In the first photo I wanted just her to be spotlighted but in this one I wanted both of them lit.  I wanted more of a magazine look, kind of rough on the edges.  I think it worked out well.

Need pricing for senior portraits you can call us at 303.888.9394
