Butterfly

Monday, February 19, 2007 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

Today Andy and I went to the Butterfly Pavillion in North Denver to take some pictures. We get excited this time of year to go different places and take pictures of things we aren’t used to! Butterflies are great to photograph because of their colors and the shapes on their wings. They also have some gardens and such outside in the warmer months and have facilities for weddings. If you are looking for a unique place for your wedding you might check this venue out! Otherwise if you just live in Denver and especially if you have kids this is a great place to visit. Here are some of the pictures we got today. Enjoy!

Through the Lens

Sunday, February 11, 2007 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

Here is another article from my set of “Through the Lens”:

Boudoir Sessions

In photography, just like anything else there are trends. One of the hottest new trends are boudoir sessions with the bride. Boudoir comes from the French word “to pout or sulk” and refers to a woman’s personal dressing room or bedroom. When you incorporate this with photography you capture all of the beautiful things in a woman on print. These pictures usually show a sense of sweetness, delicateness and beauty.

It used to be a bride would set some time aside on her wedding day to have this done before she put her dress on. Now brides are starting to do this weeks or months ahead of time and giving her pictures to her new husband as a wedding gift. In a sense this is the new “bridal session”.
This is a good opportunity to do something fun with your hair and make-up. Because this falls into glamour photography hair and make-up are important in these photos. It is also important because these photos are all about making you feel beautiful and sexy, having your hair and make-up done only emphasize this. Many brides have their hair and make-up done as a trial before their wedding day; this could be something you do the same day as your boudoir session.
When you are picking out what you will wear, you should go with your own style and personality. If you are a t-shirt and boxer girl these are things you should bring. The great thing about these sessions are they make you sexy and beautiful exactly the way you are. You don’t have to put on a skimpy piece of lingerie if it isn’t your style. You can always dress up whatever you bring with high heels, pearls, feathers, hats, ect….

These sessions should be done in a comfortable place, whether that is a hotel, a studio or your own home, so you may be completely relaxed for your session. I would also recommend to a bride she be totally comfortable with her photographer and think about whether you care if they are male or female. Although your photographer may not advertise they do boudoir sessions, if you are interested, you should ask.
There are beautiful things about every woman; this is an outlet to see yours!

Brian & Katy : Wedding Photography Grant Humphreys Mansion

Friday, February 09, 2007 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

Brian & Katy got married at the beautiful Grant Humphreys Mansion! This was a few weeks ago, so there was lots of snow! This venue is unique because there are so many great places to take pictures just inside the house. One of the things I really liked was the candy table they set up at the end of the night as the guests were leaving. They had different kinds of candies wrapped in tool and ribbon for everyone to take along with hot coffee in to-go cups. I thought this was a great touch to the end of a wedding!

Congratulations Brian & Katy!
