Kendall & Jamie live in the heart of Philadelphia but when planning their wedding chose Colorado as the destination! Unlike most destination weddings here in Colorado these two did not venture up to the mountains, they staying in the city and had their wedding at a well known venue here, Grant Humphrey’s Mansion.
The 30 room historic Mansion was built in 1902 for Colorado’s 3rd Governor. It is a beautiful place for a wedding with a huge wrap around deck for ceremonies and cocktail hours. With it’s history, beautiful architecture and tall white pillars it’s always fun to shoot a wedding here!
Jamie’s mom hand made her wedding dress making it special for her and each of her bridesmaids wore a deep blue little summer dress. Jamie loves color and so for her bouquet she had bright purple, red and yellow flowers and her bridesmaids carried bouquets of yellow calla lilies. It was a beautiful day and they were able to have their ceremony outside the mansion with a three piece band playing on the deck.
As the sun went down the party moved inside the mansion for dinner, dancing and cake. Their reception was full of emotional toasts and all of their guests were dancing as if each song got better and better. The couple had a beautiful 3 tiered cake with a simple cake topper “LOVE” just like the art piece in the middle of their home city of Philadelphia.
Hopefully no one is getting tired of seeing images of Angie. Feel free to leave a comment and I will stop. It’s an exciting time for photographers lots of choices in cameras, lenses, film, combinations. This was a test for a new lens. I won’t bore the non- photographers talking about bokeh and sharpness. I really liked the look of these test shots and thought I would share. I hope that you like them.
Its a new year and we have received a lot of emails asking where we would be teaching this year. We will be teaching a image critique for Mile High Photographers that will be announced soon. This will only be a limited engagement so we decided to offer private Woodshops for those that would like more instruction. It will be two full days with both Angie and I in our new studio. Every time I go to write a blog post from one of our weddings I get the opportunity to relive the event all over again! I find myself wanting to write the same things….”we loved this couple”, “their wedding was so unique and fun” and “what amazing friends and family this couple had”. I would love to say something different for this wedding but the truth is all of the previous statements are true! We did love this couple, their friends, their families and yes….they were unique and fun!
Geoff and Kristen were married next to the river in the grass surrounded by the beautiful Colorado Mountains. They had chosen the Westin in Beaver Creek and it was so perfect. It was a big wedding with a big bridal party surrounding the couple with lots of laughter, tears and support. They even brought their adorable dog who wasn’t quite sure what to make of everything!
Everything about this couple was fun from the groomsmen’s pink socks to the cute green flower pins the bride had given each of her bridesmaids. Geoff and Kristen are one of those amazing couples who are active in their community and do so much for other people. Geoff actually runs a homeless shelter here in downtown Denver and before the wedding we caught him talking to a few people on the street, asking them how they were doing and then telling them about how excited he was to be getting married.
The view for the ceremony was so beautiful with the water flowing behind them and the lush greenery all around them. Their ceremony wasn’t long but for 30 minutes her mom had everyone captivated as she was the officiant and married them that day. She was so cute telling stories and talking about relationships and love. You could see and feel all the emotions in their family and it made me smile.
