Fall Boulder Wedding Photography

Thursday, March 22, 2012 Posted in wedding photographers

Boulder can be a popular place here in Colorado for a wedding because of it’s beautiful views and the unique red rocks that are the landscape.  There are many trails throughout Boulder for biking and hiking and at the top of the mountain overlooking the city there is an amphitheater made out of the rocks.

Jamie and Kelly were married at this big open amphitheater on a beautiful sunny day with all of their closest family and friends.

After we spent some time taking pictures we headed back down the mountain to Folsom Field on the CU campus for the reception.  It’s always fun for us to photograph weddings in Stadiums with the big windows and the field below.   This, of course is the home of the CU Buffalos and it was fun for all of their guests eat dinner looking out over the field.

Mile High Photographers Image Critique

Thursday, March 15, 2012 Posted in misc

2 Days left to submit images for printing for the photo critique.  The judges and mentors will be Angie and I along with, our friends Ross Bothwell and Andrew Schaefer.  Having your images critiqued by another photographer can be one of the most valuable learning tools at your disposal.  Even better is the feedback you get to hear on others images.  You are not emotionally attached to another photographers images, so you are free to listen to the feedback without any stake in the outcome.  As a past judge for WPPI and PPW (professional photographers of wyoming) you will get valuable insight into what judges are looking for as well as a great discussion about composition.  It will be non-threatening, honest critique aimed at helping you become a better photographer.  If you can get over your fear of critique you will become a better photographer.

When : Tuesday March 27th

Red Rocks and Morrison Engagement Photographers

Wednesday, March 07, 2012 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

We do many engagement sessions each year with our clients and we love them!  This engagement session was a lot of fun because Brent and Karli brought their full personalities and props!  Both of them are involved in many activities; Karli loves to cook and plays the guitar in a band!  Brent is huge into basketball so during their session we had them bring out the basketball and guitar and played around!  Engagement sessions are usually casual and there are so many great places here in Colorado do them!

Photographing a Breckenridge Wedding

Monday, March 05, 2012 Posted in Photographer

Trisha used calla lilies as her main flower throughout the day with beautiful fall colors.  She carried a bundle of them as her bouquet along with the bridesmaids and the groom and his men wore them on their lapels.  Each girl wore a different colored dress and filled the air with laughter all day.  Ten Mile Station has a very rustic atmosphere and with all of the flowers surrounding it comes with it’s own natural decor for any wedding.  Because of this Trisha went simple and adorned each table at the reception with candles and colorful calla lilies.  It was so beautiful and had a romantic feel as they ate dinner with all of their friends and family to celebrate.

This first shot is a Collodion Wet Plate Image.  A scan of the actual plate it was shot on.  I wish we had time at more weddings to do Collodion Wet Plate.
