Whats the picture in the corner?

Wednesday, September 22, 2010 Posted in Colorado Wedding Photographer

A few days ago we showed you our office.  That created a few more questions lol.  David wrote ” what is the picture in the corner it’s pretty small”.  It is a 5×7 tintype of a brides wedding shoes.  Wet platers also call these ferrotype’s because they are a positive image on tin or similar metal.  If these were a negative and done on glass they would be called an ambrotype.  A small known fact is that ambrotype comes from the greek ambrotos which means immortal. I surely feel that when looking at old collodion wet plate images.  They have an enduring.. timeless quality.  The process dates back to the 1860′s.  We used a lense that dates back to 1908 for an authentic petzval look.  You can see the video of the collodion wet plate process here.  This is available to current and old brides as well.  You can drop off your wedding day details to the studio to have them taken in this process. If you are interested give us a call and we can discuss.
