Wedding Planners
Weddings are one of those things that take a lot of time to plan! Depending on the type of wedding you have, you may spend months on the little details, invitations, programs, gifts for the bridal party, ect…. A wedding coordinator is someone who can take care of these things for you. Because they will be doing these things for you, it is important that you pick someone who is qualified and you trust. Another great thing about a wedding coordinator is that they are full of ideas, they have seen what works and what doesn’t and they can help you with any etiquette questions. If you hire a full time wedding coordinator they will be there for every step of the planning and usually go with you to all of the tastings. They can help you create a budget and help you keep track of what you owe and how much you are spending. They also create timelines and schedules for planning and the day of. Then, of course, they are with you on the day of the wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly and to fix any problems that might come up.
The cost of a wedding planner can be by the hour, by a percentage or a flat fee. This can be anywhere from $300 to $5000 depending on the size of the wedding and what you need from them. You should be aware of consultants who give their services away for free. These people usually get kickbacks from vendors, which means they’ll pressure you into hiring those vendors. Also beware of consultants who charge a percentage of your total budget for their services. The more you’re willing to spend on your wedding, the more money they will make.
Some things to consider when hiring a wedding planner:
1. Do you have the money in your budget to take on the extra cost of having a wedding planner?
2. Have you found someone you trust and you like their style?
3. When deciding which wedding planner to hire make sure you meet with them at their office and ask for examples of weddings they have done.
4. Get references from other brides or vendors they have worked with.
5. Make sure they have a long list of connections and don’t limit themselves to only a few vendors they will work with.
6. Make sure you talk to them about how they work and what the process will be.
7. How big is your wedding? Do you have family/friends that can do some of the work?
8. What are their qualifications? Do they have a degree? What is their experience?
Often times you may not need someone to do the planning for you, but someone to just help out and be there the day of to make sure everything is perfect. A good coordinator whether you have hired them full time or part time will help find creative solutions to your problems and come up with cost-effective alternatives to your most expensive tastes.

Today Andy and I went to the Butterfly Pavillion in North Denver to take some pictures. We get excited this time of year to go different places and take pictures of things we aren’t used to! Butterflies are great to photograph because of their colors and the shapes on their wings. They also have some gardens and such outside in the warmer months and have facilities for weddings. If you are looking for a unique place for your wedding you might check this venue out! Otherwise if you just live in Denver and especially if you have kids this is a great place to visit. Here are some of the pictures we got today. Enjoy!
