We have been holding these off the blog and its time to show them off. We wanted to wait till after her wedding to put these on the blog. Andie called us after booking us for her wedding in Silverthorne Colorado and asked if we would be willing to do a pinup session. She just loves the old era pinups. She gave them to her hubbie on the wedding day as a present.
It was a super challenging shoot with a lot that went into the pictures. Andie had her hair and makeup done. The second big challenge was creating a photograph that looks like pinup. If you look at the most notable pictures of pinup Alberto Vargas comes to mind. The word Vargas Girls was punned from his illustrations. When people hear pinup they think of these illustrations. The challenge, make a photograph that is simple yet complex enough to look like an illustration.
We have talked about trash the dress before on the blog.
Here are a few sessions that have been shot in the trash the dress style. Some of these shoots were done before, after the wedding or at a get-together with photographers.

We also talked about how we are not overly fond of the name but have kept it in our marketing and pricing. Bridals shot after the wedding, including day after sessions, with both bride and groom, without regard for the dress, are considered trash the dress to us. You can go out, not with the intention of trashing your dress, but rather getting amazing wedding imagery that you would not have had time for or might have gotten to dirty. This aired on the Today show this morning. We want to say congratulations to all of our fellow photographers spotlighted this morning.

It is funny what we take for granted. Angie and I have grown up in Colorado our whole life. I was born in Loveland Colorado went to Columbine Highschool, then to Colorado State University, and moved back to the Littleton area. Before being a photographer, I was an IT consultant who traveled every week. I have seen a lot of the United States. There really isn’t much that compares to how beautiful Colorado can be. Getting to shoot weddings in the Colorado Mountains truly is a pleasure, and I wanted to share a few shots from a wedding we are working on. The other shot is one that we don’t often see as much because often the groom can be overlooked. Look for more coming from this Silverthorne Wedding.
Get out and see the leaves changing if you haven’t had the chance yet.
We love using any kind of camera to document weddings in colorado. We have collected toy cameras, old polaroid cameras, even had a reproduction 8×10 camera with petzval lense. Andy took a few polaroids this weekend and we wanted to share them. Film and polaroid have a much different look than digital. They are not as sharp, and have muted colors. The polaroids were the first instant photograph. There is still something magical about shooting them. See if you like them. The wedding was at Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge Colorado.
This is a collodion wet plate/ 4×5 of the polaroid camera we used.
