We entered the WPD photography contest again. We are allowed 3 entries as usual and out of 3100 entries all three made the top 100. The last contest they ran one of Andy’s shots made it into the final 10. Help us out if you get a chance and throw us a vote. If not at least go and check out some of the wonderful wedding photography from our peers around the world. The WPD contest can be found here.

Andy & I are a part of a group here in Colorado called the Mile High Photographers. We recently went up to Della Terra in Estes Park with some of the group and met some wonderful wedding coordinators! Della Terra which is a newer wedding venue hosted us that day in their beautiful facility. Andy and I had the awesome opportunity to photograph a wedding there this last summer and look forward to working there next time! The event was a lot of fun filled with drinks, food catered by Jubilations Catering and some delicious desserts by Intricate Icing.
As part of the day we were partnered up with Catherine Durante from Dramatic Events to take some headshots. We had a great time playing around with Catherine and took some fun photos she can use for business! Catherine is part of the team at Dramatic Events with Michelle who started the company. If you are looking for a wedding coordinator these ladies are a lot of fun and worth the call!
Until we get caught up it is much easier to just post a few single images for everyone to see. This picture was taken at the top of Vail mountain. The wedding and reception was at Donovan Pavillion in Vail. I just love the romantic nature of this shot with Paige and Marcus dancing as a huge storm was building behind us. Of course we will be posting more images from this wedding so hopefully you can’t wait. The good news is we have lots of material for the winter with over 20 weddings still not blogged.

You remember Stanley right? We posted about this assignment we were helping Angie’s cousin with. If you missed it you can read more about Stanley here. We had taken Stanley around town for a few photo ops. Well Stanley went even older than the vintage polaroids we took, and went collodion. Here is a positive, tintype collodion image of stanley. I am pretty sure when the technology to make collodion images was discovered that they didn’t have crayons. Stanley was colored with crayons.
So to add to all the locations, stanley has now had his picture taken with a process from 1860 (collodion wet plate), a process from 1932 (polaroids) all the way up to digital.
Just a note this was Angie’s very first time using a 8×10 camera and collodion. I think its a great first plate. Congrats honey.
